Snaps
While having breakfast in the office, I just decided to take a snap of some shadows and reflections. After a quick breakfast, I stepped out of the office for a quick smoke and took a snap of the Meralco meter.
"00" Fleming
Went to the John “00″ Fleming Trance party at the A-Venue with Kan, just to check it out. As usual, we didn’t stay long, but I was able to take a few snaps with my cellphone.
Out of Focus Photography
Lately, I’ve been tripping on a different kind of photography — out of focus light capturing. I’m not really sure if there is actually a branch of photography with this focus (no pun intended) or name, but I just decided to brand is as such.
Here are a few samples taken during a bit of free time in the Fully Booked Blogger’s Event.
Fully Booked Bloggers Event
As a lot of other bloggers have posted their experiences from the blog event, I will simply put a few photos from the happenings. And since I was hosting the event, with members from Fully Booked, I really didn’t have time to snap photos.
bursting through

I caught a glimpse of the sun bursting through the clouds, here from our office. It’s a shame that the windows are so dirty.
new baby layout
My friend’s baby had her baptism a while back, and I promised I would take some photos and give him a few layouts. Here’s my fave from the three I came up with — a kiddie set, with visitors and all.

sunny day

This has been a pending photo for quite a while. In fact, I forgot about it, until a few minutes ago when I was doing some HD clearing.
I like the contrast of the blue skies and white clouds. Plus the tall builing gives a sense of height… and the reflections don’t hurt either.
weekend with the kiddos
This weekend was choc-ful of events and things to do. It even extended onto Monday, as Anshel got an asthma attack. As I didn’t have my cam, I used my cellphone to capture most of the happenings that transpired over the weekend.
[all made up -- anshel and allana got dressed up for their friend's 7th birthday party. anshel was part of the 7 roses]
[the aftermath -- after a weekend of partying ^_^, anshel got hit with an asthma attack. so here he is at the St. Lukes emergency room using a nebulizer]

are you a creative genius?
What do you do if you’re an overly creative genius? Some people write songs. Others, paint. Some sketch. And some go on their computers and work their magic.
As I was scouring some of the posts in PhilMUG I came across an interesting topic. But rather than explain it (and ruin it in the process, I’ll just post the basic idea behind the site:

Basically, come up with a sketch / artwork, then upload it. People vote on your design. If they like it, your design ends up on a t-shirt. Of course, you get credit for your work, as well as royalties for all your trouble.

Isang Lahi: Pearls from the Orient
Isang Lahi: Pearls from the Orient, the new docu-drama directed by JP Tanchanco recently held an intimate presscon at the Greenbelt My Cinema.
Some local press got a glimpse into what the film offers. And from what I saw, the reality docu-drama has a lot of promise.
The film tries to answer the basic question: “What makes one happy?” through four mini-movies with inspiring stories of Love, Wealth, Health and Success, depicted by some of the countries leading film and TV actors — Joel Torre, Mark Gil, Juan Rodrigo and Aiza Seguerra.
The docu-drama “Isang Lahi: Pearls from the Orient has been submitted to several international film festivals abroad, and will be making its international screen debut soon.
Pacquaio vs Dela Hoya: PACountdown
The biggest boxing spectacle of our generation is coming up in less than a month: ‘The Dream Match’ pitting Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao goes up against the taller, hall of fame bound Oscar “The Golden Boy” Dela Hoya.
Of course, Yehey! is adding a bit more fun to add to the anticipation for this tremendous sporting event.

Starbucks Planner
I got my Starbucks Planner today!
I know after a few months, I’ll probably stop putting in entries, as I am wont to do (my previous planners have all suffered the same fate). Maybe I just like collecting the notebooks.
Breaking the rules
I took this snap while having a quick smoke, right in front of HSBC, in Discovery Center.
It pretty much breaks all the rules of what one would call a “composed photograph”… but I like the feel. I added noise in Photoshop for a grungier mood.
Up Dharma Down @ Yehey!
Terno Records artist Up Dharma Down came over to the Yehey office for a quick chat event to promote their new album, ‘Bipolar’.
Here are some photos from the event.
Apple Philippines

Yehey! Apple is finally opening up their online retailing locally. You can now purchase your favorite Apple products online, via their local shopping mall. I got this alert in my email and decided to check out what it was all about.
It’s the same as ordering from the US — shipping and all. But now, you don’t have to wait too long (1-2 days) AND you don’t have to get screwed by the foreign exchange rates. There is, however, a shipping fee of PhP 400.00… unless you purchase items worth PhP 3,000.00 or above.
Now I’m really tempted to get their Apple Remote and Wireless Mighty Mouse
Bay with the femoly
Last Saturday, we brought the kiddos over to Tita Cheche’s Bay Palace for some trampoline fun, lots of food and swimming. Here are a few photos from the day…
wtf is that?
Last Friday, I had a sebaceous cyst removed from my ear. It had been lodged right behind my left lobe, and taken residence for the past two years. It didn’t really bother me, even if it grew over the two years, but I just felt it was time to part ways… especially after receiving a few “WTF! Gross. What is that” comments.
The procedure was quick; all in all, roughly thirty minutes. It was pretty painless — only a few pricks from the anesthesia. Other than that, the only thing unpleasant was the smell of my flesh being lasered like charred meat.
I wanted to bottle up the cyst in the jar and take it home with me, but its currently undergoing some tests. And after the biopsy, the hospital won’t release it. At least they allowed me to take a few photos.
And if you’re wondering about my post’s title, take a gander below…
in the office
I had my camera with me yesterday, so I decided to shoot the office, as well as some stuff found in it.
Acel @ Yehey
Former Moonstar88 vocalist, now solo artist and proud mommy Acel Bisa-Van Ommen came over to the Yehey office yesterday for a quick Chat Event with the users and to promote her new album, ‘Silver Lining’.
Here are a few photos from the event.
Quantum of Solace: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
I have always been a James Bond fan, ever since I was a kid. It started out with the cool gadgets, fast cars and eventually moved on to the hot Bond girls and the suave personality of 007.
I had a chance to catch a premiere of the latest installment of the James Bond series: Quantum of Solace and decided to write a short review.
The Good
- The theme song: Jack White (of the White Stripes) and Alicia Keys team up to create ‘Another Way to Die’, the intro song to the movie. It’s a typical Jack White tune — rough, yet catchy chords with his haunting vocals complemented with Alicia Keys’s soulful R&B backing.
- The action sequences: What is a James Bond flick without the action? This movie is packed with fast and furious chases — over land, air and sea. In fact, the movie opens with a great sequence.
- Daniel Craig: Pierce Brosnan was the “perfect” James Bond, so it came as quite a shock that Daniel Craig took over the role. Brosnan was the epitome of James Bond. Dashing. Debonair. Suave. And Daniel Craig did not seem to exude that same aura. He is rough, unpolished and lacks the overall Bond qualities. But, as these two movies (Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale) are supposed to be the history of how Bond came to 00 status, DC plays the role quite well, actually.
The Bad
- The Conflict: This movie is a continuation of Casino Royale… only it took a few years to make, thus leaving a bit of a disconnect. However, my main beef lies with the basic fact that there is no major conflict in the story. As you will read in “The Ugly” part of my qualms, the main dilemma in the story comes from Bond’s desire for revenge. Instead of the usual save the world and get the girl, Bond is on a personal vendetta. Yes, it gives a human dimension to Bond (and probably explains his detached persona), it does take away from the 007 aura.
The Ugly
- The villain: For some reason, this installment in the never ending Bond series had a wimp for a bad guy. No evil plan to take over the world. No ruthlessness behind every action. No typical villain characteristics. In fact, his very presence was kind of comedic. He looked like a nerd and acted like a coward. It is kind of difficult to picture Bond actually breaking a sweat, trying to bring down the baddie. Even M would have probably offered a bigger threat in a fistfight. There was, however, the backing of a mysterious international group of other bad guys.
All in all, the new James Bond flick is still a pretty good film for the franchise, if we don’t hold this 007 to the standards of all the previous roles. Daniel Craig offers a more personal and human Bond (no pun intended) which is one of the interesting notes to this installment. My guess is his future roles will see him in the more typical Bond swagger. But for just under 2 hours of celluloid, this is one movie you may want to check out.
