regular programming
Funny how things often work out. Just when I had posted my previous entry, I decided to go over to Globe over at the Podium to check on the status of my phone. Lo and behold, there it was waiting for me — a brand new iPhone 4.
No more POTD on hold… and we’re back to regluar programming.
life on hold
Over the next few days (I can’t really say how long), my POTDs will be on hold, as I have sold my iPhone 3G in the hopes that Globe will finally come up with the iPhone 4 I’m supposed to get from them. Of course, they have no assured date… so til that time comes, I’ll be posting random photos from my other cameras, starting with this one:
Tronix Photo equipment: free use
I stumbled across something interesting in my mailbox tonight: free use of photo equipment from Tronix. Of course, I had never heard of this brand, before clicking on the unread email. But then again, I have never been one to really study on photo equipment, apart from cameras and lenses, so I can be counted among the ignorant.

Lumix LX3 firmware update
Attention all Lumix LX3 owners. Our favorite little toy has released a firmware update for us to take advantage of. Much like the iPhone upgrade to 3.0 firmware, the Lumix 2.0 firmware offers a lot of new things for the camera. Among the most notable:
-
Improved auto white balance performance. - Auto Focus speed-up.
- Recording function with an aspect ratio of 1:1 has been added.
- A white balance (WB) bracket function has been added.
- [HIGH DYNAMIC] has been added to scene mode.
- The exposure compensation and the auto bracket compensation can now be set up to ±3EV.
- Position of the guide line can now be set.
- It is now possible to display the highlights in playback mode.
- Digital red-eye removal has been modified.
For a detailed description of the improvements, as well as what’s in store for the firmware upgrade, click here.
But if you’re ready to jump in head first and download the firmware, here’s the download link, with a detailed instruction of how to install the upgrade.
Cyber-Shot TX-1 Online Blogger Search
My friend emailed this newsletter from Sony…
Sony is taking the digital imaging technology to the next level with its introduction of the new Cyber-shot TX1 and Party-shot accessory. Taking great photos under various situations has never been this exciting and fun.

Submit your favorite bloggers under the Tech, Fashion, Travel and Food categories and get a chance to win a Sony Cyber-Shot.
Submission of nominees is from September 15 to 30, 2009.
Only the best will be captured on October 15, 2009.
It’s another attempt to build a database of bloggers by dangling a carrot in the guise of a digicam. But hey, who am I to complain. If I found myself in one of the categories, I would probably be submitting my blog too.
Panasonic Lumix GF1
Over the past few months (or perhaps even the past year and change), I have noticed a shift of preference for a lot of photographers — mostly enthusiasts and semi-pro shooters, myself included. Whereas a couple of years ago, my trusty, yet aging DSLR would always be by my side (or on my back along with a lot of other gear), I now find myself sporting a much smaller case… and, naturally, a much more compact piece of equipment to go with it — my Lumix LX3. Of course, with a smaller camera, there are more limitations, but I felt that it didn’t seem necessary to bring my bulky DSLR to drinking sessions or small get togethers. Besides, with the Panasonic range of compact cams, you get a piece of equipment that acts like an SLR minus a lot of the weight and size.
Of course, with this compact camera renaissance, there is bound to be a lot of tinkering and toying for improvement. And today, Panasonic announced the launching of its newest baby, the Lumix DMC-GF1.
While I haven’t gotten my hands on this little bad-boy for a test run, I’m pretty positive that it will perform just as well as the LX3, if not better. For the meantime, here are a few photos I have dug up:

The new iPhone 3G[s]
iPhone lovers, here’s a bit of good news… and some bad news too.

Apple has launched it’s new iPhone calling it the iPhone 3G [s]. Of course, with a new iPhone version comes a whole lot of new functions. Among the more notable additions are:
- Improved speed — faster launching of apps
- Video function
- 3.0 megapixel camera
- up to 32g capacity
- Cut-Copy-Paste function
- Landscape Keyboard
- Internet Tethering –sharing the internet connection from your laptop
- Accessibility
- Search function across the iPhone
Of course, Apple promises much more with their new and improved iPhone. For more info, you can read this.
I know most iPhone 3G owners are groaning because of the cooler new functions that the new model offers… but that’s just the way technology works. And, as a bit of consolation (for me, as well), there will be a Software Update (3.0) for old iPhone owners coming this June 17… and some of the new functions will be included in the update — including the much sought after Cut-Copy-Paste function.
wanted: old soles

Over 100 participating Adidas stores are accepting your old soles. In exchange, you can get as much as PhP 1,000 off on a brand new pair of your favorite Adidas kicks.
Simply bring in your old (but functional) rubber shoes (of any brand) and turn them in. You can get PhP 500 off any pair of Adidas worth PhP 1,500 – 2,999, or PhP 1,000 off the Adidas shoes worth PhP 3,000 and above.
Oh, it’s also for a worthy cause, as your old shoes will go to the Pamulaan Center for Indigenous Peoples’ Education
But you gotta hurry, as the promo period lasts up to May 17 only! So rummage through your closet and find that old pair of rubber shoes that you don’t use anymore and trade in your old soles for some brand new kicks.
new apple iPhone in the works?

- Widescreen 1540-by-480-pixel resolution at 163 ppi
- Camera with 8.0 megapixels
- Video recording
- Text editing with copy/paste
- MMS messaging
- Adobe Flash Player
I just hope some of the functions will be made available through a software update.

prodigal father
Most of us are familiar with the parable of the Prodigal Son. Right now, I feel like the tables have turned.
After much promise to be mindful and conscious of our TeamYehey Blog, I have fallen into a rut of forgetfulness and neglect, leaving one of my baby projects gathering dust, so to speak.
As I have just written in one of the new posts, it has been a while — two months to be more precise (the exact number of days I can’t determine… or am just too lazy to count). But with a renewed sense of fidelity and vigor, I will strive to update the blog. Hopefully with the rest of the team, so as to let all of you in, on what’s going on.

are you a creative genius?
What do you do if you’re an overly creative genius? Some people write songs. Others, paint. Some sketch. And some go on their computers and work their magic.
As I was scouring some of the posts in PhilMUG I came across an interesting topic. But rather than explain it (and ruin it in the process, I’ll just post the basic idea behind the site:

Basically, come up with a sketch / artwork, then upload it. People vote on your design. If they like it, your design ends up on a t-shirt. Of course, you get credit for your work, as well as royalties for all your trouble.

Isang Lahi: Pearls from the Orient
Isang Lahi: Pearls from the Orient, the new docu-drama directed by JP Tanchanco recently held an intimate presscon at the Greenbelt My Cinema.
Some local press got a glimpse into what the film offers. And from what I saw, the reality docu-drama has a lot of promise.
The film tries to answer the basic question: “What makes one happy?” through four mini-movies with inspiring stories of Love, Wealth, Health and Success, depicted by some of the countries leading film and TV actors — Joel Torre, Mark Gil, Juan Rodrigo and Aiza Seguerra.
The docu-drama “Isang Lahi: Pearls from the Orient has been submitted to several international film festivals abroad, and will be making its international screen debut soon.
Pacquaio vs Dela Hoya: PACountdown
The biggest boxing spectacle of our generation is coming up in less than a month: ‘The Dream Match’ pitting Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao goes up against the taller, hall of fame bound Oscar “The Golden Boy” Dela Hoya.
Of course, Yehey! is adding a bit more fun to add to the anticipation for this tremendous sporting event.

Apple Philippines

Yehey! Apple is finally opening up their online retailing locally. You can now purchase your favorite Apple products online, via their local shopping mall. I got this alert in my email and decided to check out what it was all about.
It’s the same as ordering from the US — shipping and all. But now, you don’t have to wait too long (1-2 days) AND you don’t have to get screwed by the foreign exchange rates. There is, however, a shipping fee of PhP 400.00… unless you purchase items worth PhP 3,000.00 or above.
Now I’m really tempted to get their Apple Remote and Wireless Mighty Mouse
Flapjacks Greenhills
Flapjacks just recently opened their newest branch in Greenhills, right beside the Theater Mall.
As expected, the food was delish.
