one more cup of coffee
Coffee, over the years, has become one of my addictions. More so, during the colder days and freon filled office hours.
Bo’s Coffee Club @ High Street
Bo’s Coffee Club held it’s second blogger’s event last Friday, in their Bonifacio High Street branch. It was a cold and rainy morning, so hot mugs of our favorite brew awaited all the visitors.
Again, President and CEO Steve Bentitez introduced Bo’s to the bloggers, before initiating the “create a coffee” contest.
Here are a few photos from the event…
Caramon Concoction by Abamania
Last September 27, Bo’s Coffee held a blogger’s event for students from the Katipunan area. (read about it here)
As I mentioned, there was a mini contest for the bloggers: a coffee mixing competition, wherein the students got a chance to play baristas.
After brainstorming and cooking up a new and unique coffee mix, each group of student bloggers got to work, with the assistance of Bo’s Coffee president, and passionate coffee afficionado, Steve Benitez.
While all four mixed concoctions tasted great, there had to be one winner. And the winning mix: Caramon Concoction by Abamania, a group of UP students.
Their potable invention is a combination of caramel and cinnamon (thus, the name) mixed into a cool, creamy ice blended drink. While it may seem like an odd pairing, you’ll have to trust me on this; it is a very tasty bev.
And according to Bo’s Coffee Katipunan owner, Winston Quesang, the drink is now available and ready for public approval as the Drink of the Month in the Katipunan branch.
Here’s a shot of the winning group of UP students:

Share the Bo's Coffee experience
When you’re passionate about something, it shows. And I think that was evident, when president of Bo’s Coffee, Steve Benitez shared his thoughts and views on the special bean in this local coffee house.
Student bloggers gathered at the Bo’s Coffee Katipunan branch for a unique day of coffee tasting and creation (as written in my previous post).
So after Steve “shared his passion,” the main event began. Students grouped themselves together, and were given the task of creating their own drinks. Excitedly, they discussed their mixtures and combinations for their home made concoctions.
Being a coffee lover, myself, I was eagerly anticipating the results of the brainstorming. And I was not disappointed. The brews were original and very tasty. But as there will be another event coming soon, I can’t give away too many details on the coffee drinks whipped up by the four groups.
And as an added incentive to the winners, their inventions will be featured in the Bo’s coffee houses across the country for a month, with full recognition given, with the runners-up getting a week of coffee glory.
So, without writing too much more, here are a few photos from the event.

starbucks cool coffee experience
Welcome, summer!
If you haven’t noticed the rising temperature, then you’ve probably been stuck at home with your aircon blowing full blast, and all your shades have been pulled down. But for those of you that have been sweating it out in the scorching summer sun, here’s a bit of good news…
Starbucksis initiating its Summer Oasis Mall invasion. Mall invasion, you ask? Get to chill out in beautiful, Brazilian inspired cabanas while enjoying a back rub or hand massage; relive those fun-filled beach days by getting a henna tattoo; or simply relax with Starbucks’s new Coffee Blend — the Dulce de Leche Frappuccino Blended Coffee (or Blended Cream). Here are the tentative dates for the mall tour:
- May 3-4: Bonifacio High Street
- May 9-10: Glorietta Mall
- May 17-18: Powerplant Mall
- May 24-25: Robinson’s Place Manila
- May31-June 1: SM Mall of Asia
- June 3-5: Glorietta Mall
- June 14-15: Shangri-La Mall
Luckily, I don’t have to wait for those dates, as I was able to get an ‘advance preview’, along with a few other guests. Back rubs and hand massages, henna tattooing by Tanging Henna (from Puerto Galera), and some of the new products awaited the guests. The new Dulce de Leche Frappuccino Blended Coffee (or Cream based) was the main attraction. Also served, for our gastronomic pleasure: the Dulce de Leche Bars, Dulce de Leche Cheesecake, Passion Fruit Cake and to break away from the sweetness, a Shitake Mushroom with Farmers Ham sandwich (which was loaded with pesto and some other good stuff). Oh, there was also a salad…which I didn’t try as it just looked too healthy.
So as the sun set in Harbour Square, I enjoyed my cool coffee blend, experiencing the beach, right in the middle of the city. Too bad I was in office attire. For your own cool coffee break, ask your local barista in your favorite Starbucks outlet for more info. But take note, not all outlets are offering this sizzling treat.
