femoly treat
Last weekend, my dad took us all out for a treat — the Kaos show at Resorts World Manila. We had some Japanese for lunch and a quick Lion Dance show to celebrate the entrance of the Chinese New Year.. Here are a few iphone photos from the dance:

Jewelmer presents Rhett Eala celebrating 20 years
Jewelmer, together with Collezione celebrated 20 years of Rhett Eala’s distinguished career, fittingly with a fashion show.
I purposely forgot my DSLR and brought along my trusty LX3 to take few snaps for the evening. Little did I know that it would be a bit difficult shooting a ramp show with a point and shoot. But I think some of the photos came out quite well.
Here’s a few samples:
Havaianas latest Must-Hav
Last night, Havaianas Philippines launched a new line of bags.
Wait? Havainas… bags? Yes, you read right. Following the credo of fun, form and functionality, these new bags are stylishly designed with the revolutionary flip-flops as the inspiration. And true to form, the bags come in different hues, shapes and styles using the rubber from the sandals as an integral part of the carry-ons — with bits of buttons and the rubber soles turned to straps.
In a fun and original fashion show, Havaianas presented their 8 new bag styles that fit every lifesyle.
Here are a few photos from the event…

Coalition for the Deserving
Trying to break archaic traditions in the Philippines is a difficult task — especially when these traditions are steeped in dirty politics and corrupt governance. But it has to start somewhere.
Enter Coalition for the Deserving
The Coalition is comprised of four political parties (Aksyon Demokratiko, Reporma, Kilusang Bagong Lipunan and Bigkis Pinoy) attempting to bring a new system of choosing the next president and other key leaders of our country, without regard to party affiliations. These four parties are trying to break the old ways of popularity voting and aiming to instill the discipline of choosing our leaders with the qualities of a deserving individual: capacity to inspire, trustworthiness and genuine compassion.
Yesterday (02 February 2009) at the Manila Hotel, the Coalition was officially launched, with members from the four political parties in supportive attendance… along with members of the press and a bunch of bloggers.
In the launching, former SEC Chairman and current Coalition spokesperson Perfecto Yasay, Jr. presided over the events and fielded the questions thrown at the assembly.
And in one excerpt from his speech, Yasay summed the Coalition’s vision: “…the Coalition for the Deserving implies two basic levels of worth, value or merit: First, deserving means that the people who choose our leaders have the right to expect the rewards of good governance, that they are the sole legitimate beneficiaries of dedicated and selfless leaders. Second, that the leaders the Coalition will select an support on the basis of measurable standards that will be applied in determining their fitness to govern, will be deserving of the confidence and unqualified support of our people.”
No longer should we vote for the most entertaining, the best looking, the smoothest dancing, the most eloquent, silver-tongued candidate. Popularity and “winability” should not be factors in choosing our leaders. Rather, we should look for individuals with character and ability to do the job at hand. In other words, we should seek the deserving.
Along with the Coalition for the Deserving, Yasay is also calling on “every true Filipino, especially the youth to join us in this noble and great cause, as the entire Philippines clamor desperately for change.”

Yehey's PoPinoyan partay
With bands, food and booze aplenty, it was all smiles at the Yehey! PoPinoyan Christmas party last night at Grilla Bar and Grill along Kalayaan.
Clients, partners, bloggers, users and Yehey! employees mingled with each other in an eventful evening, hosted by poet / writer / actor / host Juddah Paolo.
A full buffet, free flowing alcohol, a few prizes and some great, up and coming bands fueled the party atmosphere, as Yehey! gave thanks to everyone that braved the traffic and attended the party, as well as recognize the support that everyone gave for a fruitful 2008.
As an added treat, and to celebrate our Pinoy Pop Culture, a few hundred lucky guests also got to take home a t-shirt with their favorite lines from movies, songs and various other popular media over the past few decades.
Thanks to everyone who made it.

Meg's 10th anniv. … post party
So Meg’s 10th anniversary came and went. I wasn’t really able to stay long, as I had other prior commitments, but it was great seeing my good friend Yeng. And it was pretty funny seeing my sister, as I was coming out of the doors. She had to pay to get in… >_
Recently, Meg, a prestige publication of MEGA Publishing Group, celebrated a decade of style, sensibility and sisterhood with a fashion-forward theme and rockin’ back-to-back events! Presented by Smart and Nokia, the music-filled bash welcomed a huge crowd comprised of Meg readers and some of today’s biggest stars.
Geared towards molding smart, confident and fashionable young women, Meg— the country’s first homegrown teen fashion and lifestyle magazine, invited all its loyal style sisters to dress in their most rockin’ glam garb and troop to Club Ascend in Bonifacio High Street. Upon entering the venue, partygoers got the chance to strike their punkiest pose for the cameras and leave their messages on the photowall.
DJ Gino from RX 93.1 served as the overall host for the night, while fellow RX DJ Rico Robles took over the mic for the main event – the announcement of the winners of the 2008 Meg Face Search and Meg Teen Choice Awards, which boasted an overwhelming 10 million online votes from Meg fanatics spread all over the country and the world.
15-year-old Gandahari Simone Carpio smiled brightly on stage while being proclaimed this year’s Meg Face Search grand prize winner. The young beauty, whose prizes include appearing on the cover of the magazine’s October issue, bagged the title by topping the online poll and getting the thumbs up from the Meg editorial team, led by editor in chief Peewee Isidro-Reyes and MEGA Publishing Group’s top executives led by Sari V. Yap and Lorraine V. Belmonte.
Several celebrities lit up the stage during the announcement of the 2008 Meg Teen Choice awardees. Among the stars who personally received their unique trophies from Bo Concept were Spongecola for Favorite Band, Luis Manzano for Favorite Male Host, Bianca Gonzales for Favorite Female Host, DJs Gino and Fran for RX as Favorite Radio Station. Singer-actress Karylle received the award for Favorite Male Celebrity on behalf of Dingdong Dantes, and a number of Pinoy Idol artists accepted the award for Favorite TV Show. Favorite UAAP Player Chris Tiu, fresh from the other night’s championship game, sent the crowd—especially the Ateneo die-hards— roaring wild when he accepted his award together with his towering teammates.
Other celebrity winners were Marian Rivera for Favorite Female Celebrity, Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson for Favorite Celebrity Couple and Shaina Magdayao for Ultimate Style Sister.
Spotted rockin’ the night away were hot celebrities from both showbiz and fashion worlds— from GMA Artist Center were Dominic and Felix Roco, actresses Rhian Ramos, Andi Eigenmann, Kris Bernal, Schinina Juban, ka-Blog hosts Lucky Mercado, Andrea Torres, Mico Aytona and Monica Verallo, and QTV’s chef Rosebud Benitez.
Pretty faces that partied all night were beauty queen Abby Cruz and models Isabel Daza, Jess Wilson, and Vicky Herrera, who came with sisters Rosario and Teresa of Project Runway.
Also having a good time were PBB-Season 2’s Bodie Cruz, Yen Lim-Galagnara, Nel Rapiz and Bea Saw, PBB-Teen Edition’s Mikee Tan, and PDA’s Inaki Ting.
Ten lucky partygoers were randomly selected to receive cool gift packs from Smart, while Meg Face Search finalist Meryl Perey took home a Skechers watch for being the “Punkiest Girl of the Night.” Acer gave one ecstatic Meg reader a brand new Aspire laptop as part of a special raffle.
Odyssey Live provided an impressive band performance line-up that included Hale, Callalily, Pedicab and DJ Mark Nicoasia. Rock band ChicoSci served as the event’s closing musical act.
